As the end of 2008 is looming and it now appears to be law to compile lists, we asked a selection of your favourite authors to give us their favourite books of the year that was 2008.

Marie Macaulay writes in Gaelic, and was the winner of the Gaelic Prize in the 2007 Royal Mail Children's Book Awards, for her book Uspaig agus S-S. In this month's interview she tells us about Scottish Book Trust's Gaelic story writing competition, which she will be involved in judging, and lets us know about more about herself and her writing.

In a first for Scottish Book Trust, Marie's answers are featured in both English and Gaelic.

This month we are talking to top children’s author David Almond, who has sold over 1 million books, and Children’s Programme Director at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Sara Grady, about their work, the Book Festival and Outreach.

David Almond will be visiting schools as part of the Outreach Programme that is run by Edinburgh International Book Festival and Scottish Book Trust. The Outreach programme will run over two weeks in August and also features Sam Enthoven, Tim Bowler, Sophie Mackenzie, Mario Ivan Martinez and Rachel Hazel.
