The Scottish Book Trust book Beginning with Books proved an instrumental element of a recent trip to Jining by Scottish Government official Jim Smith. The early years reading book is printed in 14 languages, Mandarin being one of them.
Scottish Book Trust's Chief Executive Marc Lambert said "We were delighted to help, and chose this book as it is designed for parents with very young children. We thought that was very appropriate. The aim is to reinforce early learning skills and, crucially to encourage parents to read to their children." The gesture was widely welcomed and we at Scottish Book Trust are keen to be involved in similar initiatives in the future.
